Help! What to pack for the UK?

Hello friends!

As you may or may not know, I am off to the UK for 4 weeks in 5 days time!! Eek! Not so much for a holiday (I wish) but more for work purposes (with some fun of course). BUT I've been stressing my head off these past few days as to what to pack in my suitcase. I am only allowed 20kg and suddenly that seems such a little to survive on for the month?? I mean, seriously SAA!!

I suppose my biggest dilemma is what the weather would be like over there at this time? I'm coming from Africa remember and my 'cold' and UK 'cold' is 2 completely different state of minds!

I think what I would most like to know is whether I should be packing a coat and boots for this time of year in the UK? Can anyone help me? That would solve one of my packing dilemmas! umm...thanks!

10km Race completed!

Hello everyone

I'm just checking in to report that I have survived my first 10km road race! Yay! I'm happy to report that it went much better than I expected. I think what may have saved me was that I didn't do it too fast and paced myself as I wanted to finish strong at the end. So I took it easy for the first 5km by walking all the uphills and running on the downhills and then basically ran the last 5km or so. I think I finished in about just over 1:30 which was my goal but I'm not too sure about the exact time.

Last night my thighs were a little stiff but I am surprised that I have no major aches and pains to report today. I thought I would be in a lot more pain. If you are thinking of running a 10k race, you should definitely do it!! I think a 10k is just about the right distance for it to be a race and bearable.

So yes, don't think about it, do it! I need to find out when the next 10k race is!

Weigh-in- Wednesdays!

Weigh-in-Wednesdays is fast becoming Weigh-in- Thursdays these days! Oops, sorry!

Well the update is that I have no loss this week after the big loss last week! But that is sometimes to be expected. And hopefully I will see a loss next week!

The BIG news is that I have my first 10k race coming up this Sunday! Eek! I'm starting to wonder what I have gotten myself into?? But I am determined to finish regardless of the time, slow and steady wins the race??? Wish me luck!

Top 2 Tuesday!

This week on Top 2 Tuesday, we have to share our 2 beauty secrets! Here are my two!


Because I have really curly, frizzy hair, I fell in love with this product back in 2001 when I was in the US and have been using it ever since! Its provides shine with no oil and helps when I dry my hair wit a blowdryer and a GHD. Been my top product for 9 years now!

2. This is a miracle product that I have only just discovered this year! It gives my skin a smooth feel without the oil. I have really large pores and people always comment on how smooth my skin is when I where this primer. You can wear it under your foundation or without foundation and just under your make up. Its a bit pricey but really worth it!

Music Mondays!

hello lovelies!

Hope you all had a superb week-end! Mine was spent having some quality time out with my lady friends on Friday night, visiting the District 6 museum on Sat and going to the awesome new Cape Town Stadium on Sat eve to watch soccer! More about all that coming soon with some pics!

I just adore Alicia Keys and Beyonce. I think they are both such good singers as well as strong women!! And I just love singing along to women singers in my car! haha.

Weigh-in Wednesdays!

Align Right

I have news!!! Finally after a long long plateau, I finally have a loss! I'm not sure what did it but a loss is a loss baby! So to cut a long story short, I had gained a kilo or so over the last 2 months and today, I took off 1.8kg (3.96 pounds!!) I hope that means that my metabolism has finally kicked in and I am on the road again to losing. I think it may be all this training that I am doing for my 10k race next Sunday!

Goals for this week:
* keep trying to drink the 2L of water a day (yes I'm still struggling)
* Run 15km by next Wed
* Do Powerplate twice before next week

The scale can only go down from here!!

Jennifer Hudson

I think Jennifer Hudson is an awesome singer. I loved her in Dreamgirls and I have her CD and listen and sing along to her in my car. I was also very proud of her that she was 'bigger' than your average Hollywood star and yet managed to hold her own in the crazy industry.

BUT, I must admit she looks amazing as the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers and I'm hoping that when I reach my goal weight, I'll look like her!
